Workshop Travel Information

If you have received an invitation, here is some information on traveling to and from the workshop, lodging, and local restaurants/cafes/shops.

Flights

Try kayak.com for booking flights. You should fly into the Sea-Tac Airport (airport code: SEA). Please email us your receipt as soon as you book your flight and you will be reimbursed.

Getting to and from the Talaris Conference Center

We have set up an account with Shuttle Express located at the Sea-Tac airport for fast door-to-door service to and from Talaris. As soon as you have your flight info and want to make a reservation, call 425.981.7000 and tell the agent you are with the “UW Dept. of Bioengineering, profile number 116300” so that you won't be charged for the reservation. When making your reservation, you will need to know the address of the Talaris Conference Center: 4000 NE 41st Street, Seattle, WA 98105.

To get to Shuttle Express: from baggage claim, take the escalator up one floor and cross the bridge over to the parking garage. Take the elevator to the third floor and follow signs to Shuttle Express. Sign in at the window when you arrive.

If you are renting a car, here is a link for directions to Talaris. See the maps below for the area surrounding Talaris and campus map.

Registration

When you arrive at Talaris, check in at the front desk and you will be given a workshop book and name badge. If you're not staying at Talaris, you can pick up your book and name badge at either the Open Bar/Welcome Dinner on Friday night or at breakfast on Saturday morning. If you have an urgent question, please don't hesitate to call Sean on his cell phone: 206.326.8847.

Lodging

We will be paying for single occupancy guestrooms on-site at Talaris for all out-of-town attendees of the workshop. Guestrooms are available for three nights (Friday, April 25 - Sunday, April 27). All guestrooms have wireless high speed internet access.

Local restaurants/cafes/shops

Talaris is within walking distance of neighborhood restaurants, cafes, jogging trails, and only four blocks from University Village (a popular outdoor mall with over 80 unique shops). See the maps above for restaurants and shops near Talaris and how to get to University Village.
